// about

Web developer, systems thinker, kitchen trained.

I'm Ahmad Zaim Aiman bin Ahmad Azam, Zaim for short. I build websites, web apps and custom systems for businesses: the booking, ordering, inventory and admin tools a team uses every day.

I started out scripting games in Lua and modeling worlds in Blender. Games are unforgiving systems: every event has to be handled, and nothing can break when a player does something unexpected. I bring the same thinking to business software.

I've also worked in the kitchen at Courtyard by Marriott. A hotel kitchen runs on tickets, timing and a final check at the pass, and good software runs the same way: a request comes in, the right part of the system handles it, and nothing goes out until it has been checked. I still work like I'm on the line.

Skills, honestly rated.

“Working knowledge” means I build with it but still look things up often. I'd rather label it accurately than oversell.

Workshops & training.

Where it started: structured introductions to programming and animation that turned curiosity into a direction.

Programming workshop

Bengkel Programming with Blockly

My first structured taste of programming: logic, loops and events built by snapping blocks together, before touching written code. It showed me how programs actually work.

Animation workshop

Bengkel Animasi: “Animate Your Story”

Storytelling through animation: planning scenes, timing, and taking a short idea from storyboard to moving frames. This is where the visual side of my work started.

The path so far.

  1. Workshops lit the fuse

    First steps

A Blockly programming workshop and an animation workshop (“Animate Your Story”) were my first structured taste of building logic and telling stories on a screen.

  2. Curiosity, then obsession

    Start

Started building game worlds out of curiosity and never really stopped. Learned the basics by rebuilding things I liked from the games I played.

  3. Scripts, not just scenery

    Getting serious

Moved from placing objects to writing Lua: doors, checkpoints, shops, saving. Games are unforgiving systems, and that is where I learned to think in them.

    Now

Building websites, web apps and custom systems for clients with the same habits: map the flow, build it in small pieces, and test it before it ships.

    WebCustom systems

Rules I build by.

Build around the workflow

I learn how your team actually works first, then build the system to fit it, not the other way round.

Ship in small pieces

You get something you can click through early, and every week after that. No disappearing for two months and hoping it's right.

Screens and rules together

I design the screens and write the logic behind them, so nothing gets lost between a designer and a developer.

Be honest about scope

I'll tell you what a system needs, what it doesn't, and what it will cost before we start.
